Basically the process I used was to calculate the offset based on the timezone. This required finding the first or second sunday of whichever month was the start of dst and then deciding if we were in between the two dates that start and end summer time.

Even if everyone didn't spend it, they would put it in a bank and as the bank reserves rose they would be more likely to loan to companies that could create value with those funds. Until the banks and the market regain confidence (which won't happen the way Obama is talking these days), people are going to sit on their funds because the risk is much higher than the reward (why would you buy a bank issue given the risk of nationalization)

The problem is "even" distribution of the funds gives too much money to the so called "rich" (really middle class) and they won't have that. They would much rather distribute it to the masses in small quantities to keep their base happy and voting for them next time. Unfortunately once this happens it is a hard trend to reverse as the numbers taking money from the government have a vested interest in keeping their government in power. Those numbers rise as the ability to lift yourself out of that group diminishes.

This leads to the downward spiral of a government that has to print more and more dollars because it eventually becomes no longer possible to tax or borrow for those dollars. Debt holders (can you say china) start cashing in their chips and we find ourselves in a nasty inflationary environment and/or a tax revolt.

May we live in interesting times, but not this interesting!

First, would be "Do unto others, as you would have done to yourself". The golden rule. With this, you don't need any other religion or morality.

Second would be to exercise. Exercise has so many benefits. Besides the obvious fitness, there are the self esteem and confidence benefits and I believe a strong relation to drive and intelligence.

Third would be to read. Read to learn and understand. Not romance novels and other useless crap, but the classics, history, psychology, economics. Learn the meaning of words, learn logic and clear thinking.

And lastly, question everything. Don't take anything at face value, even and especially if its a view passed down from your parents. If you don't understand something, seek to understand it. And don't rely on others to teach you, teach yourself what you need to know to understand your questions.

I feel that if you follow these four simple to say, but not so simple to follow rules, you will have a significant advantage over a majority of your peers. In a global and ever more competitive world it might be a required edge.

NERDTree is wonderful, I prefer it to project. tComment is great also. I use the following commands to check syntax and run scripts from within vim.

I'm hoping it stays closed. There is so much noise vs. signal out there that having a closed social network makes a lot of sense. When you join a group you actually can know everyone in the group. When you post you can actually read all the posts to the thread. Smaller would be even better, but I guess you need a certain number to get a critical mass.

I copied .evolution/addressbook/local/system/addressbook.db to a test.db. I then ran the script below against it to create new.db. I backed up addressbook.db and copied new.db to addressbook.db. I then had to restart evolution including killing any evolution process that was running so that the contacts didn't stay in the cache. Hope this is useful to someone else out there with the same issue.

To fix this change line 266 of active_scaffold.js from

First, run ruby script/server webrick, webrick with give you a much better error than mongrel. It seems for me the attachment_fu module kept failing because of missing processor gems. I was receiving define Technoweenie::AttachmentFu (LoadError) which was not much help either. Even once I had the processors installed I received the same error.

Next try moving attachment_fu out of the way, this revealed that I didn't have the sqlite3 gem installed. Once this was installed the server started. I moved the attachment_fu plugin back and restarted.

Everything worked once these gems were installed. It would be nice to figure out a way to test for missing gems and automatically list them out. Any ideas?
